Ok so did you want to know how our Queensland holiday went?
No? Well bad luck!! We headed North to thaw out.
What did we do?
Enjoyed 25 degrees weather, full of sun, fun and we were busy busy busy.
Rocked up Thursday after a very early cold start in Melbourne, stripped off clothes, it really is warm up here, thought Jen was exaggerating. Picked up Zach from school and he and Kelly were very excited to see each other. Thursday night went to NSW for dinner (20 minute drive!!) and met up with old friends from Vic.
Friday we went and did a bit of shopping and went to the beach for a few hours. Friday night, few drinks and a bit of crapping on.
Saturday was Kelly's 7th birthday. Went to Brisbane for a Buddha festival and market, enjoyable day out. Kids played in a man-made beach beside the Brissy river. Came home to watch replay of Aussie Rules. Had a beautiful seafood pizza, after I scraped all the seafood from the box back onto the base. Thanks Rob! Followed by lovely 3 layered icecream cake, strawberry, cookies and cream and bubblegum :D. Then took off to the casino at 11 o'clock at night. Got home about 2.30, god I'm gonna be tired when Zach hits the floor running at 6am :(
Sunday, I am definitely very tired, relax at the beach park while the kids played - Jen and Mark got some quality time at the Goldclass movies and lunching.
Sunday night get all revved up again for the Australian Outback Extravanganza - totally loved it, if anyone is considering going and slightly put off because it aint cheap, dont think about it, just do it. Fantastic!! I didn't think Kelly would get that into it, but she was totally enthralled. The horses were so well trained, doing dancing to music, girls doing handstands on their backs, galloping around the arena. Food and atmosphere were great. Definitely would go back and see it again. Maybe I would try and not get lost on the way AND on the way back!!!
C - "Jen the railway station is on my right"
J - "It cant be on your right it must be on your left - how did you get THERE??"
C- "Oh hang on, I just will go around the roundabout, yes it is now on my left!!!"
Poor Kelly, back seat driver was stressing cos she didnt want to miss the show, though her tragically misguided mother had forseen the future and had left plenty of time to get lost and to be found again.
Monday we went to Surfers to try and get on the Aquaduck, booked out so we went on the Jetboat instead. Kelly totally loved the speed, and was laughing all the way through the fast turns and spins. I got off looking like a drowned rat.
Tuesday went to Movieworld - see previous post of us all looking totally scared on the 'kids' ride Scooby Doo. Whole day spent there and we were very lucky to get a special deal for May only - 50% off - yay. Mark loved the Superman ride, no way I was getting on that one.
Wednesday, going home day. Went up to the local chocolate cafe...mmmm...got a taste for mocha's up in Queensland...mocha and cake, what better way to end a great holiday.
Zach and Kelly got on so well, they really compliment each other. And as for Jayde, omg she is soooo cute, even got me a bit clucky!! Kelly really enjoys her big cousin role.
Tears at the airport and Kelly and I cried in each others arms on the plane...she is such an emotional kid, wonder where she gets it from?
Thanks Jen and Mark for having us, had a fantastic break and rejuvenated the batteries.
